Our bride getting married at The Peninsula New York loves to change things up! So instead of featuring a dress for the welcome party we thought leather pants would be really fun, especially since this NYC bride opted for a non-traditional wedding gown earlier this week. She continues to push the fashion envelope with these Helmut Lang leather pants. Plus they are the perfect staple piece for her wardrobe that she will continue to wear after the wedding!! They can be worn casually with Isabel Marant sneakers and a fabulous Dannijo Galilee necklace, or you can fancify your leather pants with an awesome French Connection Techno Rain Zip-through jacket and fierce Dannijo Jovi bracelet. What is your favorite piece below?
Q: My wedding ceremony is going to be in a classic church with a long aisle, but the reception is going to have a lounge nightclub feel. How do I marry those two looks?
One of the hot trends we saw at bridal market in October was convertible dresses. Typically, a convertible dress is one that looks like a traditional wedding dress with a long full skirt, but the long skirt comes off and there is a straight dress or a short dress underneath. They are a really fun way to have a traditional look for down the aisle and a party dress for the reception.
Another idea is to keep the same dress on, but change your accessories and hair. Maybe for the ceremony you wear a cathedral length veil with your hair pulled back in a chignon, and classic jewelry. Then for the reception, you could take your hair down (keep your hair stylist there to do this for you!), and put on big chandelier earrings and a sparkly cuff. You would be amazed at how these small changes can make a big difference.
A lot of our clients also like to change their shoes. They wear a more traditional ivory or neutral shoe for the ceremony, and then switch into a pair of their favorite color for the reception. Just make sure if your dress is long that the shoes have the same heel height so that the hem of your dress isn’t off. And for an added bonus, changing shoes even when the heel height is the same, helps prevent your feet from hurting because different shoes hit different points on your foot.
Let me know what your questions or ideas are!
Here is an example of the convertible dress! A beautiful Monique Lhuillier
We are back at the beautiful Peninsula New York! Yesterday we showed the bride wearing a non-bridal stunning Roland Mouret gown, and today we are continuing on that theme by showing a beautiful ready-to-wear dress as a bridesmaid dress. Thinking outside of the box for the attire is how your personality and those of your bridesmaids can really shine thru! The foundation of today’s outfit is a stunning royal purple Oscar de la Renta silk-faille dress with bow embellishment– both classic and chic at the same time! The accessories highlight the purple and gold tones from yesterday. Our favorite is the amazing Eddie Borgo rose gold cuff!! What is yours???
This week we are SO excited to be in our home town of New York City, featuring The Peninsula NYC. To us, this hotel is truly a special place. Every time we walk into the lobby we get the unmistakeable feeling that we have entered a different, and very chic world. It is the perfect blend of sophisticated elegance, and Asian charm. And then of course, there is the rooftop bar Salon de Ning with the most incredible views of Fifth Avenue and Central Park (and some pretty great cocktails too!). Lastly, The Peninsula is special to us because of our sister company The Stylish Bride’s partnership with them giving out-of-town brides the utmost luxurious wedding dress shopping experience.
We know that the bride who marries at The Peninsula is chic and modern, and in love with New York. Her wedding is going to be an intimate affair for the 120 people closest to her, and the decor emphasis will be the amazing New York skyline. We think a modern non-wedding gown by Roland Mouret gown would be the perfect choice, with accessories in shades of purple to compliment the sunset. And who can resist these outrageous purple Charlotte Olympia platforms?!?
We are so sad to end out week at the amazing Carmel Valley Ranch. A big thank you to the wonderful Carmel Valley Ranch for letting us feature them! It is such a gorgeous property any bride would be lucky to get married on there. To end our week we are styling the bride for her brunch! There is no better place to end your weekend festivities then poolside!! Enjoy a few mimosas and/or bloody marys reliving the last night stories :)
After wearing high heels for your wedding weekend the best thing to do is put on a pair of comfortable and chic flats, these K Jacques St Tropez are perfect! We love the bright and cheery J. Crew Jules Dress. Plus this shift dress looks perfect for any shape! What is your favorite accessory below? The purse, necklace, bracelets……???
We are continuing our week at Carmel Valley Ranch with today’s focus on what a bride would wear to her rehearsal dinner. If one is getting married at Carmel Valley Ranch there can be no better rehearsal dinner setting than an outside intimate dinner under the stars. These gorgeous pictures highlight how romantic and special a rehearsal dinner outside underneath the Milky Way can be. The emerald M Missoni dress is perfect for this setting! Not only is emerald the color of the season but in your pictures you will highlight the beautiful scenery surrounding your outdoor dinner. The dress is styled two different ways: casual and formal. The casual outfit has comfort in mind with Marni leather wedge sandals and is accessorized in gold accents. We love the Alexander McQueen skull bracelet it is the perfect mix of funky, fun and chic! The more formal look is all about the SHOES! These are beauties – these Giuseppe Zanotti fringed sandals are AMAZING. And to highlight the outfit is an amazing Nancy Gonzalez orange crocodile clutch. Do you think this combination works?
Back at beautiful Carmel Valley Ranch for our bridesmaid’s inspiration. Today we are thinking out of the box for our bridesmaids by having them wear jumpsuits instead of dresses! This look is definitely for the sophisticated bride whose bridesmaids have a fierce personality! We love the juxtaposition of modern and chic bridesmaids attire with the lush greenery of the Spanish moss and mountainside.
The bridesmaid’s jumpsuit is in a luxurious silk-jersey royal purple fabric by Issa. The accessories are in rich silver tones to highlight the brides Lanvin dress neckline from yesterday. Our favorite accessory is the stunning Alexander McQueen clutch. These bridesmaids are bold and fashion forward. Enjoy! What do you think of jumpsuits?
Carmel Valley Ranch is this week’s inspiration for our lovely brides. All we can say is WOW!! What a beautiful property with lush greenery and rolling mountains. This is the ideal location for a destination wedding. What a treat for all your guests to be surrounded by the Santa Lucia mountains, one with nature. This is the perfect location for the sophisticated bride looking to wow her guests in the Carmel Valley region of California. Looking at this property online we know does not do it justice. Everyday we will have more amazing photos of this beautiful property that will inspire bridal attire.
Our Carmel Valley Ranch bride is wearing a stunning Lanvin wedding dress, which features an oversized bow in the back and gorgeous crystal embellished neckline. The accessories play on the colors purple and silver which are the colors of the wedding. Who loves the purple Christian Louboutins and J. Crew bracelets??
What a beautiful week of fashion we have had inspired by Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. We are thrilled that we were able to highlight this beautiful property in Washington, D.C. The only location in D.C. that allows for an outside ceremony overlooking the water. For an outdoor ceremony with our bride wearing the gorgeous Monique Lhullier dress we couldn’t think of a better ending to our week with a beyond cute flower girl dress by Oscar de la Renta. Accessorized with blue tones and a darling James Avery necklace. Enjoy!!!
Hello everyone, we are introducing a new topic for Thursdays one dress two ways! For the Washington, D.C. bride two options for wearing this incredible Herve Leger dress to highlight her rehearsal dinner. This dress allows a bride to look fashionable in a casual dinner setting where your guests have just arrived to begin celebrating you! You are outside for a casual cocktail/crab fest. For our casual look we have paired the lovely blue with great accent pieces such as the incredible emerald Nancy Gonzalez clutch for a fun pop of color. Another incredible accent piece are the Marni clip on earrings which will reflect the deep blue color of the dress.
For the bride who is going the more traditional sit down rehearsal dinner her accents highlight beautiful gold accessories. The Pièce de résistance is the Giuseppe Zanotti studded leather sandals that are in a beautiful nude color which will accentuate and lengthen any bride’s legs. To top off the formal look are Bounkit gold-plated earrings in amethyst and quartz.
Either of these looks will be perfect for the Washington, D.C. bride who is sophisticated and fashionable. Enjoy and as always comments are welcome!
