We are ending our week at the amazing Peninsula Chicago with one skirt, two ways! A big thank you to the Peninsula, Chicago for allowing us to feature their beautiful property. Today we have an amazing Roberto Cavalli printed crepe de chine maxi skirt. This blue and white printed skirt can be dressed down or up. We think the print is perfect for a Sunday farewell brunch. For our casual look we paired the skirt with a simple James Perse white t-shirt and Valentino studded metallic leather sandals. We kept the accessories simple with a Lanvin pewter cuff and crystal cocktail ring. Our dressy version for the skirt involves the same print in the top and blazer. The accessories are simple Jimmy Choo Lance metallic leather sandals and Maison Martin Margiela silver-tone crystal ring. What is your favorite piece? Is the dressy version too much with the print?
Today we are inspired by the beautiful outdoor terrace at The Peninsula Chicago, the perfect venue for a rehearsal dinner underneath the stars. What could be more beautiful than a formal sit down dinner in amidst the skyline of downtown Chicago?!? The outfit takes inspiration from the beautiful colors that are everywhere this spring: pinks, greens, and yellows. Our favorite piece is the Stella McCartney jacket paired with Stella McCartney crepe flared pants. What is your favorite piece? Isn’t the jacket incredible!
This week we are featuring another one of our friends from the Engage12 conference, and heading to Chicago’s Peninsula Hotel on the Magnificent Mile. When I think of a Chicago wedding, I think of a traditional black-tie affair that is the epitome of understated elegance. In Chicago, there are few better places to do that than The Peninsula’s Grand Ballroom with floor to ceiling windows and breathtaking views. The Peninsula prides it’s self on incredible service and providing a relaxing environment for its guests. To us, it sounds like a wonderful place to check in for the weekend and get away from it all!
We love Monique Lhuillier’s “Candice” gown for it’s long sleeves and demure lacy sexiness. Sometimes the most alluring thing can be to show nothing except the shape of a woman. This dress does just that with it’s slim column silhouette and long sleeves. The detachable sheer skirt gives the bride a more traditional and voluminous look for going down the aisle and then a sophisticated dress for the reception. We would suggest changing up your hair and accessories to really make the two looks different and distinct.
This week we are focused on the The Hamptons as inspiration for our wedding attire. The Hamptons are the epitome of chic, country, and New York sophistication. When we think of The Hamptons, we think beautiful beaches, lush lawns, and gorgeous estates that are the perfect balance of country and chic. Hosting your reception in a tent gives you a blank canvas and lets you decide on everything from carpet to chandeliers! Here are some snapshots of The Hamptons and reception tents for inspiration. We think the perfect dress for a tented backyard wedding is this beautiful Carolina Herrera gown. It is classic, chic, and has a touch of sparkle making it the perfect compliment.
Being that we are in Aspen, Colorado this week featuring the amazing property The Little Nell, we wanted to think outside of the “traditional wedding-wear” box and feature pants. The weather in the mountains can change in a split second from a warm summer day to a cold winter day. To us, these amazing Stella McCartney fringed crepe wide-leg pants are really fun and stylish. To keep our looks today still feeling appropriate for a bride, they are all white with hints of creamy orange. Which look do you prefer? Would you ever wear pants to one of your wedding events?
We are back at Little Nell for our bridesmaid style inspiration. As we showcased yesterday, the bride is wearing Valentino Haute Couture therefore the bridesmaids must also be styled accordingly. The bridesmaids dresses are beautiful MATTHEW WILLIAMSON in creamy silk-chiffon. The mint color will tie in perfectly with the natural beauty of Aspen. Since the dress is so stunning we have kept the accessories plain and simple. Our favorite piece is the VALENTINO embellished leather sandals. What is yours?
This week are thrilled to feature our friends at The Little Nell in Aspen, Colorado. While you may typically think of Aspen as a perfect winter wedding destination, it is absolutely stunning in the warmer weather! The property its self is a haven of mountain luxury, and arguably there is no better place to get married than at the top of Aspen Mountain. Your guests will take a gondola ride from the hotel three miles up to the Aspen Mountain Club where the ceremony takes place outside over looking the Rockies. Truly breathtaking!
Clearly, our bride this week loves things that are the utmost in luxury. But she also loves the natural, peaceful setting that the Rocky mountains provide. Playing off that combination, we chose this Valentino Haute Couture dress. Between the lightness of the organza and the floral motif with slight beaded accents, to us it is the perfect dress for a wedding at The Little Nell.
I swooned when this piece walked the runway at Jason Wu’s show last week. Its everything I look for in a party dress – flirty, fresh and sexy in an unexpected way. I love the texture the feathers give this look – its feminine, elegant, perfect for dancing and the silhouette cinches your smallest part to flatter without being body conscious. My favorite silhouettes typically sport a high neckline with a short skirt, to show off slim stems and draw attention up to your face.
I love this dress from Lela Rose for a rehearsal dinner look. It is so special, romantic and feminine. Looking at it in person, it just floated down the runway. I think a bride would feel so beautiful in this.
Thanks Carrie and Rachel! It’s an honor to have you contribute to the blog! Brides, we would love to know what you think!

Most of our clients like to change into a short, fun dress to dance in for their After Party. These dresses are our top pics from fashion week, and in our opinion AMAZING!!!
1. This Monique Lhuillier bone colored floral embroidered cocktail dress with a high low hem and long sleeves would be a great choice for a winter wedding after party dress. We can envision perfectly it in a low lit, lounge-style environment with the silk white fox shawl as the icing on the cake.
2. Naeem Kahn This short beaded number would be a blast to change into! Your legs are free for dancing, and it’s so sparkly that it is special enough for a black-tie occasion.
3. Naeem Khan his beaded spaghetti strap dress is just unbelievable. If your wedding dress is full and a bit tough to get around in, but you still want a long gown, this is a perfect choice.
4. This draped strapless Marchesa dress is fantastic for a bride that wants to be a bit more edgy for her second dress. The beading and color keep traditional accents alive, but the construction makes is cool and modern.
