Hampton Wedding Inspiration

This week we are focused on the The Hamptons as inspiration for our wedding attire. The Hamptons are the epitome of chic, country, and New York sophistication. When we think of The Hamptons, we think beautiful beaches, lush lawns, and gorgeous estates that are the perfect balance of country and chic.  Hosting your reception in a tent gives you a blank canvas and lets you decide on everything from carpet to chandeliers! Here are some snapshots of The Hamptons and reception tents for inspiration. We think the perfect dress for a tented backyard wedding is this beautiful Carolina Herrera gown.  It is classic, chic, and has a touch of sparkle making it the perfect compliment.

One Dress, Two Ways

We are back in Jumby Bay. With one of our favorite features every week one dress, two ways. Imagine walking around the pool deck during your rehearsal dinner with today’s Issa Dress. This gorgeous silk coral halterneck gown is perfect for the Caribbean nights. And can be styled two ways for a casual and formal look. For the casual look we have accessorized the look with awesome CHARLOTTE OLYMPIA Carmen Canvas Wedge espadrilles and a Chloe Marcie Continental Wallet that we are using as a clutch! For the formal look it is all about the  Irene Neuwirth jewlery and the Croc and Lizard Effect  Alexander Wang sandals.

Dear Julie,

I’m getting married in Mexico and I am trying to decide if I should bring my dress with me or have it shipped. If I bring it on the plane, how do you suggest I handle it?

This is a great question and applies every bride getting married in a foreign country.

For domestic weddings I would say that shipping your dress is a perfectly safe thing to do. The salons do an amazing job of packing them, and they send them overnight on an arranged date so there is someone there to sign for it.

But, when shipping to a different country it gets a bit more complicated because of customs.  I once did a photo shoot for a magazine in the Caribbean where a box of dresses arrived three days late because they were held up in customs. I would hate to see this happen to a bride on her wedding day.

So, when going abroad, I suggest bringing it on the plane with you.  Now, the ideal situation is that your dress has it’s own seat, but this is not always a realistic option.   If you can’t do that, the stewardesses are usually pretty nice about putting it in the coat closet in First Class so it can hang. As a last resort, lay it flat in an empty overhead compartment.

When you arrive, make sure you hang the dress so that it is not touching the floor if possible, and take the train out of the garment bag.

I hope this helps, and safe travels!

– Julie

Four Seasons Punta Mita Bridesmaid Style

Back at the sunny Four Seasons Punta Mita, oh how we wish we were there now! It has been nonstop dreary on the East Coast this week. We have beautiful shots of the property decorated for various wedding events. There is nothing better than dining under the stars. Our bridesmaids style is inspired by the J.Crew Kylie dress in sunwashed aqua. This silk chiffon one shoulder dress is beautiful with the gathered top and wispy party skirt- is the perfect beach bridesmaid look! Accented with bold J.Crew pieces, our favorite is the enameled double-frog bangle it is fun, funky, and has a hint of the sunwashed aqua color. What is your favorite piece below?

Four Seasons Punta Mita

We are thrilled to feature the Four Seasons Punta Mita as our property of the week. This amazing hotel is located 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta nestled in the northern tip of Bahía de Banderas, one of the world’s largest natural bays. Staying there is truly an amazing experience.  You feel like you are part of nature because the resort is located in a 1,500-acre reserve. We think it is the perfect location for a bride who wants to get married in Mexico but not necessarily Cabo San Lucas. This resort has everything for you and your guests to create memories of a lifetime. What bride would not want her reception on the beach under the stars with toes in the sand!?!

We envision our bride this week wearing a beautiful J.Crew Kira wedding gown accessorized with bright red floral necklace and bracelet. Since this is a beach wedding in Mexico we thought it would be fun to play up vibrant colors with these stunning J.Crew accessories. What is your favorite piece below?
